November 5, 2017 To whom it may concern, It’s my absolute pleasure to recommend Whitney Salvail for the position of Spanish teacher. Whitney and I studied together at the Universidad de Alcalá in Madrid, Spain. For more than one year, I’ve watched Whitney as she’s excelled academically in her Máster de Enseñanza de Español como Lengua Extranjera at the Universidad de Alcalá, while also growing professionally as an English Language Assistant at Colegio Altamira and Colegio Patriarca Obispo Eijo Garay. Whitney is incredibly hard-working, motivated and thoughtful. Time and again last year, Whitney exceeded expectations at both our university and her school, pushing her Spanish language abilities, experimenting with new teaching techniques, and always seeking to establish real and meaningful relationships with her students. Furthermore, Whitney possesses excellent communication skills and shows true sensitivity towards others, qualities which make her exceptional to work with. Whitney brings a formidable knowledge of the Spanish language and culture, a compassionate personality and experience working with students in various age groups to the Spanish teacher position. As an undergraduate, Whitney studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain, where she fully immersed herself in the Spanish language and the Andalusian culture. In 2016-2017, Whitney further explored Spain and Spanish while attending the Universidad de Alcalá, where her Máster de Enseñanza de Español como Lengua Extranjera offered her valuable insights into teaching Spanish to non-natives. During her practicum at Colegio Altamira, and again this year at Colegio Patriarca Obispo Eijo Garay, Whitney has had the opportunity to establish herself as an enthusiastic and creative teacher. I highly recommend Whitney for the position of Spanish teacher. Whitney brings outstanding knowledge of Spain and the Spanish language, as well as experience working with students in another language. I believe she would make an excellent Spanish teacher. Best wishes, Clare Boerigter

To Whom It May Concern: I am writing this recommendation for Whitney Salvail because I feel she is someone that truly deserves this recommendation. I got the chance to meet Whitney through the Service Learning Class at the University of Maine at Orono. She was one of the students under my supervision during the Field Service portion of the Service Learning Class to Honduras. The SL students spent 3 weeks in Western Honduras doing community service projects and collaborated with the local community members. During these three weeks in Honduras I saw Whitney grow on a professional and personal level through her work on community projects with her classmates, as well as with numerous community members. She took every opportunity to practice her Spanish through communicating with native Spanish speakers during the execution of the projects she was involved in. Whitney was always ready and willing to volunteer whenever possible and worked tirelessly on them. I would highly recommend Whitney for her work ethics and enthusiasm in whatever she undertakes.
