Work fully remote on a cross function DevOps/Platform team supporting other developers in an agile environment. We do a little bit of everything from writing clean code, creating documentation, troubleshooting production issues, to supporting and educating other teams on best practices. This is a unique roll where my time is split 60/40 with 60% of the time I am doing Dev/Ops tasks, and 40% of the time I am doing software engineering tasks.•Deconstructed a legacy .NET Framework 4.6 monolith application into containerized .NET 6 microservices using the strangle pattern. Allowing for at will deployment, which gives teams freedom to make quick changes. •Participated in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) of several backend .NET 6 microservices•Oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of our Kubernetes cluster, and other important infrastructure hosted in Azure.•Designed and implemented a migration of our CI/CD pipeline from TeamCity to GitHub actions in order to reduce complexity and hosting cost.•Champion observability with New Relic and simplify the process for other devs to implement monitoring.•A committee member leading our Speaking and Leadership club where I provide coaching to help my coworkers improve their speaking and leadership skills.•General Problem solver. I am frequently asked to jump into other team's code and solve complex issues. Which has taught me how to read and understand code that I did not author, even when it is written in languages I am not as familiar with. Show less

Kubernetes is an intimidating topic. Let’s be honest, even reading the word the first time can be overwhelming. One way to help alleviate some of the fear associated with Kubernetes is to learn where to look when things go wrong. When a staff change left me as the organization’s Kubernetes “expert,” I was a little concerned. Ok, so I was actually terrified, but over the past 3 years, I learned the hard way how Kubernetes works and how to troubleshoot errors. I look forward to sharing my learnings, so that you will see that Kubernetes is not so scary after all. Show less
