During my tenure as Managing Partner we described the firm as a Business Intelligence Consulting firm whose clients turn to them to fine tune their marketing, their branding and their sales so they can grow faster. We work with business leaders to help them get a clear vision of where they stand today, where they want to go and what they have to do to get there. Specifically in terms of: • what they sell, • how they get it to market,• how much they charge and• helping people understand why they should want to do business with them. They do this by uncovering and quantifying the hidden values and perceptions of the people who impact their business, now and in the future. Beckett Advisors' clients credit the way in which they distill their insights and facilitate the decision-making process with enabling them to make the decisions that have significantly improved their bottom lines. One client credited the firm's input with putting $225,000,000 to their bottom line in one year with no capital investment. Led by Randy Strawderman, this company of actors did some amazing work. The most lasting contribution however was creating the Young Writers for the Theatre program which has morphed into the New Voices for the Theatre program. Now run by the School of Performing Arts Richmond Community (SPARC). Enetering its 35th year of soliciting new plays from high school students across the Commonwealth of Virginia. The playwrights selected spend a summer residency working with theatre professionals honing their craft. The program has turned out several porfessional playwrights including a Publitzer Prize nominee. Most importantly it places young people in positions where they are expected to behave as professionals and they invariably do. Show less

501 (c) 3 not-for-profit arts organization managing an 800 capacity venue presenting live popular music and producing initimate*innovative*provocative drama. Prior to creating Blue Flamingo, Richmond Theater Company managed the bar at FloodZone from 1986-89 to raise funds. During Blue Flamingo's short run we produced the award winning Drinking in America, Some Things You Need to Know Before the World Ends (A Final Evening with the Illuminati) and Les Liaisons Dangereuse. We were the 5th of 7 teams to manage the operation. The facility now houses the notorious Have A Nice Day Cafe. This was where I learned the importance of your leadership team off stage. I had attributed my prior successes to my performance. This was where I came to recognize how crucial the team was. Show less

Over the course of eight (8) years my partners Melissa Johnston and Max Maxwell and I built the world's most prolific theatre company. In the first 24 months we produced 23 productions for children ages 3-10, adolescent and adult audiences. While we received a great deal of critical success for our efforts at the end of 1984 we had performed only 128 performances that year. At that time we focused our efforts solely on producing interactive, environmental theatre for children and performed 528 performances in 1985, over 1,000 in '86 and by the end of 1988 Richmond Theatre Company delivered 1,487 performances from Philadelphia, PA to Charleston, SC. My father was a bricklayer and a contractor. I began carrying brick and mixing mortar for my dad the summer I turned 11. At the time I thought he was making a man of me. When I became a father I realized it had been his version of day care. When I got my drivers license at 16 he made me a foreman responsible for securing permits and getting the men and material to the jobsites. Off and on through college and whenever I was between acting gigs in the '70's I would run jobs for him. It was there I learned "we don't go home until the job is done". I learned my work ethic there and in the theatre. He was my model as an entrepreneur. Show less
