After having worked with him closely for an extended period of time on a project with as many downs as there were ups, I can attest that not only is Wes a bad ass designer and data visualizer, he's also a tremendous teacher and team member. I'd recommend him and his team at 4 first names to anyone wanting to take their brand or digital communications to the next level.

After meeting Wes at a publications conference, I came away very impressed with his passion for design and his abilities. I offered him an internship and he exceeded my expectations. So I offered him another. And then asked him to work for me while he still attended school. And afterwards. (Obviously, he continued to impress me.) Wes is an outstanding designer who is always seeking ways to make his work clear, impactful and memorable. He usually succeeds. He is easy to work with, seeks out feedback and delivers well-thought-out designs. He’s also quite the writer. I couldn’t recommend him higher.

4 First Names helps companies communicate complex data. Using a foundation of modern technology (a cross-platform video game engine), these projects turn data into information.Wes oversaw the user experience and visual design of projects developed by 4 First Names. Working with clients to align the business goals with an understandable narrative. From there, he worked with the development team to determine feature sets and work them into the required technology solution. Finally, he managed the execution of visual vocabulary, aligning it to the specific project and the existing brand guidelines.Instead of drowning an audience in charts and graphs, Wes worked to produce projects that simplified the story. He found that once a user understands the whole, they can focus on their individual interests. And that's when engagement happens.
