In my 5+ years of employment as a Warehouse Operations Supervisor, I coordinated the logistics process of automotive parts movement such engines, transmissions, etc., through high volume cross-dock freight consolidation operations. In my capacity, I supervised 30 union and non-union truck drivers, dockworkers, and assemblers, as well as a shipping clerk focusing on bulk meter logistical resupply and parts assembly to the General Motors Assembly plant. This includes managing the inbound and outbound transportation and warehousing needs of GM suppliers from the U.S., Mexico, China and Canada. I utilized Pick-Pack shipping functions in tracking inbound parts inventory in routing and coordination scheduled JIT deliveries to GM and communicated issues such as shortages, damaged freight, delivery issues, wrong loads, and any other potential problem. Part of my job was documenting shipped parts and raw materials and the incoming loads and reports daily total on the corporate website. I made sure that we complied with D.O.T. regulations and maintenance repairs on tractors/trailers while supervising a group of workers that sub-assembles parts through the JES process as well as with the GM regulations on building components to ensure acceptable quality for assembling parts. Furthermore, I trained employees to handle parts properly to avoid scratches and damages when picking parts operating a hoist. Highlighted Accomplishments: Improved warehouse layout based on the frequency of scheduled parts movement and enhanced procedures for backup or overflow of freight by 25%. Improved check-in policies and safety precautions of 3rd party companies by 50% when visiting warehouse for quality issue checks at designated areas. Created streamlined and more efficient logs and spreadsheets, resulting in an increased documentation rate of 35%. Improved inbound and outbound logistics procedures as well as housekeeping procedures to keep areas neat and organized.
