Jack joined my team as a summer intern between Jun and Aug 2021. Based on his background, I was pretty confidence on his technical skill. So, I gave him a full project -- Prove the concept that Panzura can use open stack swift as backend object store. We have customer in the pipeline for this. I knew it’ll be a challenge for an intern, because 2 of my engineers tried before and met couple of roadblocks. Jack started with reading all the documents on the web, with his own knowledge, he made some progress. But soon he hit another major roadblock and stuck there for almost 2 weeks. At daily sync meeting, he described is issue to the team. Couple of team member provide some hint. After that, Jack set up meetings with different stack holders, formed small task forces tackle one issue at a time. By break the project into small tasks, reviewing every week and formed dynamic work groups with team member across US, Mexico and China, he made necessary changes on both open stack and Panzura filer, he finally created a working filer with open stack backend. He closed this project with well detailed document, so anybody can follow the document to finish the setup. Throughout this project, Jack demonstrated his technical, problem-solving skill and the ability to calibrate with people from different groups and background.

Jack was part of our Summer Entrepreneurship Fellowship at Scoutible. Jack was one of our six finalists (out of 24) chosen to present his Final National Marketing Strategy, due to it's strength in creativity, strategy, and research. Over the course of the 10 week program, Jack actively engaged in developing new skills around marketing strategy to acquire 222 new users to our game platform. He was always more than prepared for our meetings, worked to come up with creative solutions, and supported his peers. He leveraged google analytics, his personal network, and our weekly educational sessions to continuously inform his learning and try new approaches. Jack was a joy to work with and I highly recommend him!
