Set up company following extensive research into the market. Many months of planning, number crunching and several versions of a business plan that took 3 years in the making. Consultations with council officers, architects, industry experts, existing play centre providers, accountants, Landlords and solicitors. Premises finally located, then 2 and half years of negotiations with the Landlord to secure the building on a 10 year lease. I met with play industry companies, builders and more architects and planning officers to carry my vision forward. In June 2007 we signed on the dotted line and then the hard work really started. We instructed our chosen play frame providers, and builders and then started the recruitment process. Telephone interviews, face-to-face interviews and trials days galore then finally on 6 October 2007 we were ready to open our doors to the public. For those first 18 months I was working 14 hour days, 7 days a week. Currently responsible for 40 staff, an average monthly footfall of 12,000 customers and everything that entails. Health and safety, training, recruitment, financial projections, basic accountancy and much more besides. Business accommodates approximately 90 birthday parties per month in addition to the customer footfall, and we have recently launched an Education Centre as an additional revenue stream. Net profit steadily increasing year on year.
