IPV Program Coordinator

In Power IPV Coordinator responsibilities included, supporting the InPower, Sexual Harm Response Program, in providing crisis support, case management, and behavioral health services for survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence. The IPV Coordinator worked in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team of nursing, medical providers, medical and legal case managers, and the behavioral health service line to provide LGBTQ-affirming, survivor-centered, harm-reductive, intersectional, and trauma-informed prevention and intervention services for young people and adults who disclose intimate partner violence. The IPV Coordinator was responsible for the creation, implementation, and evaluation of extensive agency training on appropriate screening methods and interventions for LGBTQ people who have experienced IPV, particularly individuals who are living with HIV and who qualify for Ryan White Part D services.- Provided short-term case management services to survivors related to sexual violenceincluding, collaborative goal setting, advocacy: medical systems navigation; legal and criminal justice system navigation. Howard Brown Health is a network of federally-qualified health centers in Chicago, IL specializing in serving LGBTQIA+ communities. My role as a Behavioral Health Intern included, completing mental health intakes by phone and in person. Make appropriate referrals to either Howard Brown Health therapist, groups or refer out to other organizations once the mental health intake was completed. Complete mental health assessments to individual clients and give therapy to individual therapy clients on a weekly or biweekly basis. Frameworks used during individual sessions included but not limited to relational psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and trauma-informed lens. Co-facilitated a processing group called The Journey Continues, a diverse, gender inclusive and affirming group for LGBTQ adults aged 50+.
