  I have earned almost 20 years of work experience working as a teacher for the City of West Haven. In 1999, I began working as a fourth grade teacher at Thompson Elementary School. After I earned my Master's degree, I began working as an ESL teacher at Washington Elementary School and Bailey Middle School from 2004-2009. After earning my doctorate degree in 2009, I transferred to West Haven High School to gain more leadership experience and have a true K-12 background experience. In 2010, I began working as a department chair at WHHS, where I have had the opportunity tohone my leadership skills. I am currently serving as a NEASC co-chair.

  -Establish curriculum objectives for the department based on specific current data-Develop a vigorous program for the implementation and evaluation of these goals-Served as NEASC co-chair-Assist with the development of alternative ESL programs offered at West Haven High School-Design and develop teacher schedules for foreign language, ESL, and sheltered-content ESL classes.-Supervise eight certified World Language/ESL Department members and two support staff members-Conduct and facilitate department meetings, data teams, and collaboration-Manage the department supplies, textbooks, equipment, and supplementary materials-Advise the principal on the departmental budget-Advise the principal on the placement of department teachers-Evaluate teachers’ performance according to WH SEED and make recommendations to the principal regarding department personnel-Perform classroom observations of department personnel and provide feedback and support.-Collect and review daily lesson plans-Provide orientation and in-service training programs for department personnel-Recruit and conduct interviews for new World Language teachers-Attend relevant school, district, and professional meetings, including monthly school wide data team, district improvement team, 8th grade open house, and honors/ elective showcase-Assist in identifying and utilizing community resources for the departmental program-Keep current on educational innovations and trends as they relate to department concerns-Trained and calibrated in new SEED evaluation utilizing Frontline (Teachscape)-Administer and update department website-Facilitate CAPT/SAT modifications for ELLs-Administer annual LAS Links assessment for ELLs and use this data to drive instruction and class placement-Administer initial placement testing for new ELLs and help create their schedules-Decipher transcripts for international students-Monitor exited ELLs for mainstream transition
