Dr. Wendell Murray is the epitome in leadership, education, team building, organizational management and strategic planning. His breadth of knowledge and experience compounded by his commitment to building and nurturing powerful leaders has fostered an uncanny ability to transform struggling organizations into thriving ecosystems of vitality and excellence. Working for Wendell was a watershed moment for me as his guidance and leadership has become the model to which I aspire. He is responsible for equipping and inspiring me to pursue my goals with an elevated standard of achievement. I am honored to have worked for Wendell as Director of Fine Art and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to recommend him without hesitation. ~Marc D’Agusto, MFA

It is a rare and welcome opportunity it is for me to have the privilege of writing a letter of recommendation for a man of such high caliber and integrity as Dr. Wendell Murray. I had the privilege of working under Dr. Murray during my first two years as the Music Director of Somerset Christian Academy, and without question, I found him to be an extraordinary leader, committed educator, and a man of the highest character. Dr. Murray took over the administration of SCA in 2003 at a pivotal time in the school’s history. Hired to improve and to change the course of one of NJ’s oldest private schools, he was charged with redefining the school’s mission, overhauling the faculty, and re-establishing the school’s reputation within the community. It was shortly after this that Dr. Murray hired me to establish a Department of Music. During Dr. Murray’s tenure at SCA, he was extremely successful in his stated objectives, and his administrative talents were immediately clear. Additionally, SCA saw healthy student growth, an increase in positive reputation within the local community, and the development of several quality educational programs such as the Art Department and the Early Childhood program, to name a few. Dr. Murray also spear-headed various strategic teams led by expert teachers in order to implement the schools vision, and he was careful and selective in hiring qualified, professional, and creative employees. Turning around such a large ship often takes significant time, and Dr. Murray’s early success confirms his proficiency in educational management. Throughout my time working for him, Dr. Murray was unequivocally supportive of my department both in his interactions with me as well as with parents and students alike. His administrative support was felt by all of my colleagues in their various departments at SCA, and it was clear that Dr. Murray was respected by all those who worked for him. He was fair, willing to confront with respect when needed, and he governed with a trust and freedom that permitted his faculty to use our talents and professional skills with creativity and without the fear that often accompanies those in similar positions. In addition to his professional achievements and commitments, Dr. Murray was faithfully devoted to his wife and children, four whom I had the distinct privilege of teaching. One’s children are frequently his best reflection, and in this regard, Dr. Murray did not disappoint. His children were lovingly raised by him and his wife to be respectful, diligent, and honest, and my having had them in various classes gave me the pleasant opportunity to know Dr. Murray also as a parent who took seriously this most solemn duty. This added dimension served only to bolster my already high level of personal respect for him. It is because of the above qualities along with others too numerous to mention that I not only hold Dr. Murray in the highest regard, but that I also recommend him fully.
