I had the pleasure of being mentored by Wellesley throughout the 4 years of my study at EIT, Hawkes Bay where he was employed as Lecturer and Visual Arts administrator. In this time I was taught to develop, explore, refine and critique my skills and thought processes as an artist. I feel I credit much of my formative development in the field of fine arts to Wellesley's expert guidance. Wellesley's ability to develop meaningful, purposeful mentor-based relationships with ease, and his endeavour to treat every student with the same thought and care he gives his own work, is demonstrated by the calibre of students that have graduated under his tenure. I have a deep respect for Wellesley as an artist, a mentor and a friend and wish him nothing but the best in all aspects of his educational and creative career.
