Hi, ~ 2003 Rainer was my colleague at Nokia. I remember good facilitation co-operation and good team spirit with him. Rainer was partner manager for solutions for Symbian mobile enterprise devices, while I was creating E2E work processes and establishing team tools for the team. thank you for cooperation :-) good years.

Pekka Abrahamsson

Rainer is a hard-working, business-minded and talented professional who continuously seeks for exploring his mind as well as novel business opportunities. His forward looking mentality keeps him busy traveling. Working with him is very smooth and straight-forward. He will have something very concrete to share with you, and when he makes a promise, he will make sure he lives up to the expectations.

In my opinion, founding a company should always be based on solving genuine customer problem. I found this problem close by, at the university I was attending, when I noticed the lack of computing capacity was a bottleneck for many research projects. I soon realized that not only universities had this problem but it was a huge horizontal problem. Nowadays business, research and product development projects rely heavily on computation in its many forms, for example, optimization, modeling, simulations, or data analysis. The problem of Techila’s clients is the lack of sufficient computational capacity. The nature of business-critical and technical computing is to continuously address the next most difficult problems. Organizations that need to solve heavy computational tasks can easily identify a number of problems that would require ten to thousand times more computing power than is available. They may be able to solve these problems using existing capacity, but instead of hours, these problems may require days or weeks to solve, which is rarely possible or even practical. It was not very easy to solve computing capacity problems by not creating new problems like ease-of-use, ease-of-management, scalability, energy consumption, facility issues etc. For me it was obvious from the beginning that the answer was autonomic computing, a radical new distributed computing approach.

Nokia Enterprise Solutions business unit was responsible to develop mobile business phones (E-series phones) like Nokia E-90 Communicator. The Total Business Solutions team was responsible to co-operate with the biggest IT-houses to enable their solutions to be ready to integrate in the E-series. In that function my main responsible was to support the jointly efforts by offering knowledge from Nokia’s Java platform and also to support Nokia’s Java strategy. The work was extremely interesting and gave me excellent opportunity to understand how partnering works in that level. If I would do something else than scientific computing related work nowadays I would certainly join back to Nokia.

Probatus Ltd was around 100 worker consulting company which focused purely on telecommunication sector. Probatus was owned by Comptel Corporation which is the world leading telecom software provider. Later on Accenture bought Probtus. In Probatus my work was mainly consulting. Much of the work was done in office but also in the client side all over the world. Later on I was also responsible of a mediation consult team. The work was interesting since 95% of the customers were big international telecom operators.
