Texas Reliability Entity monitors, assesses, and enforces compliance with NERC Reliability Standards for electrical generators, transmission companies, and Balancing Authorities who own and operate assets in the state of Texas. We adhere to an annual audit schedule and conduct compliance audits according to the Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS). Primary responsibilities include reviewing evidence, keeping work papers, conducting interviews, producing an audit report, and documenting lessons learned and internal controls. Audit team leader for four larger audits with between four and nine assigned auditors and two smaller audits (self-certifications) with three assigned auditors. Gave multiple presentations concerning the audit approach, internal controls, and best practices for various NERC Reliability Standards. Worked with compliance leadership to develop a guide to distribute to new generators to aid them in being audit ready and to assist them in developing a framework for their internal controls programs. Provides guidance to newer auditors pertaining to engagement processes and audit approaches to Reliability Standards.This included writing audit guidance documents to give auditors an outline for assessing the applicable requirements. Provided comments concerning the auditability and potential effectiveness or ineffectiveness of proposed Reliability Standards for cold weather preparedness. Show less
