I represent plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of IP-related disputes and transactions, including patent litigation, patent licensing, IPR (inter partes review proceedings before the US Patent & Trademark Office), and contract disputes. Since entering private practice in 2005, I have personally represented clients in over 40 cases, both on the Federal and State level. Federal cases included breach-of-contract actions (both as plaintiff and defendant), patent infringement, trademark infringement, consumer privacy actions, and appeals to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. State cases have included employment disputes, breach-of-contract actions, and most recently corporate landlord-tenant disputes. I am admitted to practice before all state-level courts in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I am also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. I have been before various other courts, including the Eastern District of Texas (Tyler and Marshall Divisions), the Northern District of Illinois (Chicago), the Middle District of Florida (Orlando Division), Northern, Central, and Southern Districts of California (San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego, respectively), and most recently the Northern District of Texas (Dallas).

I blog regularly at www.IPRPetitionDenied.com, in which I look at the PTAB's denials of IPR petitions and break down what went wrong, and the lessons that patent attorneys can take from those denials.
