    • Principal Owner - Financial Planning

Infocus was a financial planning business catering to the needs of a variety of clients from wealth accumulators to Pre-Retirees. The business was first established in regional Victoria and another office was established in partnership with an accounting firm in Melbourne. Responsibilities • Operations/Processes • HR/Training • Sales/Networking • Provided advice to clients. • When the office in Melbourne was set up I moved more into a managerial role and reduce the time seeing clients and networking. I spent lot of time improve the processes and systematizing the business. I also trained up the new adviser who was job was to grow the client base. Achievements • Started business from the ground up. • Systemized the business to improve profitable and improve saleability. • Built an online internal management system whereby clients could log on and view their monthly progress reports – we use to monitor and manage our HNW clients on a monthly basis. We would be charging up to $5,000 for some of our HNW per year. • Trained and qualified in most aspects of financial planning. I did not concentrating in direct equities as I preferred to build my own model portfolios (statistic background). I was outperforming the model portfolios constructed by the dealer-group. • Built long-term relationships with my clients – in the 10 years of running the business I had less than 10 clients leave. • Had close to 400 clients when I sold the business and I was generating up to 350K in revenue. • Concentrated on Fee for Service rather than FUM. • Built successful client relationships and partnerships with other business owners ie., Accountants and Mortgage Brokers. • Managed up to 5 staff (2 full-time and 3 part-time/casual) – trained one of my staff who eventually bought the whole business. Reasons for Not Continuing Sold Business in 2012 when one of the internal advisors asked to purchase the business. Show less
