My role is to liaise with a diverse group of candidates from diverse backgrounds with varying degrees of mental health and addiction and help them to overcome the barriers that lead to employment. This is done by giving them access to multiple resources. Engaging Employers in order to help clients with a disclosed disability find part time work that will offer them a real world experience and potentially transition them in into apprenticeships, traineeships or further education and full time employment. Offering on-going support to employers and building strong community connections. This role offered me direct recruitment opportunities as well as an opportunity to create new business for the future. This role saw me traveling all around Victoria creating exposure for students looking to engage in Apprenticeships or Traineeships. This also helped me to create new and vast networks and an opportunity to link businesses together where the need arose.

Working with people who are currently suffering from mental and physical health issues to integrate them back into the work force. This involves training in employment and interview techniques. The other branch of our organisation involves advocacy for the deaf community through community support. My role is to liaise with candidates from all streams and help them to overcome the barriers that lead to their employment. This is done by speaking with local education facilities and employers to create opportunities for my clients. In doing so, I have created a network that allows for faster placement into sustainable work. As well as this I have created a network of places for the “Work experience Phase” that see me involving myself with larger non-profit organizations to help support people with disability regain their confidence in the work place by offering them volunteer activities and work experience placements, as laid out by the DEEWR guide lines. In my time here I have developed a number of programs designed to give motivation, confidence and goal settings skills back to job seekers in a real world environment. This has increased job placements considerably in the last 6 months. It has also helped a number of jobseekers previously considered “not Job ready” As a reverse marketer I speak directly with employers to negotiate the terms of employment for my candidates. I also help employers to think “outside” the box, this helps employers to learn about traineeships, apprenticeships and on the job training or up-skilling.

    • Employment Consultant
      • Jun 2009 - Apr 2010

Previous to the new DEEWR contract in July 2009 I was a Job Search Trainer, helping those with few skills in job-seeking and interviewing to up-skill them selves and give them the tools needed to successfully gain employment. In addition to that I helped them map out a path to employment by providing sound and researched advise, training, and programs, allowing them to maintain their employment long term. Post July 1st , I have become a “Stream 1 Consultant”, taking on the majority of the branch case load. This job has allowed me to offer quick employment solutions for the betterment of the business. Part of my role with Sarina Russo has also been helping to create Community Support by involving myself with “Brotherhood of Saint Laurence”, and leading their “Job Club” once a fortnight. This has helped to fill vacancies and bring new and eligible job-seekers to our site. I have also given training sessions to the youth group doing their English courses with IMVC. I am my branches ESS super-user, and am involved in the continual training of new and current employees in the processes of this company, helping to achieve the “can do” attitude, not just in systems, but through the development of new processes that have allowed our team to “work smarter, not harder”. This has helped our team to meet and exceed set KPIs. Approaching the 13 week mark for Stream 1, I have coached other consultants from other branches, in better ways to deal with the large amount of people needing to be seen in such a short amount of time, and offered continual support in this matter as I am both fully prepared and ready fort this point to come. Working with Management I have developed business strategies to help increase the flow of Job-seeker and vacancy traffic to help grow the business. This was done by using our primary resource in better and more efficient ways.

As a “Retail Sales Officer” my roles include, meeting and exceeding KPIs, as well as the upkeep of the store and my own personal training, to make sure that I am up to date on all the latest plans, technology, and pricing. Also to help create an atmosphere that is both welcoming, and friendly so that both staff an customers feel welcome. As a “Deployment Support Officer” my roles include, training and supporting my managers and staff in the use of Seible, as well as maintaining the software at a store level. Training and education programs for both myself and staff, to ensure a smoother transition for the customer. And regular conference calls with other DSOs who were part of both RG1 through 3 to ensure that I am able to help other stores in this endeavor as well. The bulk of this role is designed to create a support network so that no matter where you go training is the same. Another part or this role has been attendance at both regular testing groups, and roll back groups, this has allowed me to learn from our “Back Of House” people, new ways to make the store experience better. I was also involved in the role out of the “T-Life” stores in Southland shopping centre. I was encharged with the task of setting up and training staff in the use of the “My Place Bar”, a new experience for Telstra customers, it allowed them to come to the bar to learn about the use of their new products and how it could be integrated with the rest of the technology they already owned.
