As a Project Director I manage a small team of Project Manager's along with managing intricate parts of certain challenging projects especially during proposal, pre-contract, tender, project kick-off (first 2-3 months) and project completion (snagging and final accounts). In addition to this I work on other avenues of income for the business including a new 'Value Engineering' service we now offer clients on over budget projects which has been a great success during these times. I have also successfully completed five design and build projects in which I personally managed all aspects from the initial proposal (gaining subcontractor and supplier quotations / preparing all aspects of bid), to managing the projects on a day to day basis including all commercial aspects and through to snagging, client sign off and final account. IDA is a leading interior design, architectural and project management practice with projects throughout the Gulf region. The sectors of specialism are in Hospitality and Workplace projects, with particular expertise in high-end luxury interior design. I started my journey as a project manager working on projects in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. It was a difficult transition having worked previously only in the UK. Work ethics and techniques proved difficult to understand and much different to back home in the Midlands. But after a difficult first year I bonded with the middle east and its practices paving the way to future success in my career. Show less

Project Manager / Project QS

Feb 2011 - Feb 2013
I was involved in multiple projects including a large Mosque Project (Masjid Ali) (circa £5 million) that consisted of works on the ground floor with mezzanine level; a 2+3 (stepped foundation) storeys mosque building; a library building; and a 150 car parking. It was a unique building that has multi-purpose faith facilities and I was responsible for project managing the scheme throughout till completion. The client was particularly satisfied with my methods of project control and value engineering to the extent of maximising revenue for the project. I was also involved in a refurbishment project ‘Stykers Bowling Alley’, which was at one stage a redundant bowling alley prior to the purchasing and redevelopment by the Client. It was fully refurbished to a high standard and is now fully operational. Other projects included the demolition of private house, which was rebuilt into a £1.2m luxury mansion consisting of an internal heated pool, sauna, and 13 bedrooms. Show less

I worked exclusively on the lucrative the Wolverhampton 'Decent Homes' Scheme, I was part of a team of two to three senior quantity surveyors that generated an average revenue of over £1.3 million per month. This was achieved by working under a strict programme of refurbishing 50 houses per week. It was a challenging experience but rewarding nevertheless since it allowed me to gain confidence in my ability to focus and handle multi-million pounds projects, in which it also led to obtaining a new roofing contract worth £1.6 million, and a maintenance contract averaging a revenue of £25K per month through my contacts I had developed in client offices. The re-measure contract was valued at £1.3m. • Involved on a small social housing scheme consisted of 23 units of Norwegian ready-made houses. Worked as a Assistant QS alongside a senior Project QS. It was an amazing opportunity as i was still studying 1 day per week and working 4 days per week. • Worked on the prestigious Electric Wharf Scheme in Coventry under Phase 3. It consisted of a contemporary apartment block that was converted from an old electric sub-station. The project was valued at £120m. • Also worked on the ‘Oakham Care Village’ – a development consisted of 25 units of 3-storey bed-care homes, and 36 units of 1 to 2-storeys houses on a brown field site. The total development cost was valued at £10m. Show less
