I was a peer mentor for the Resilience, Integrity, Scholarship, and Excellence (RISE) program at Seton Hall University. As a peer mentor, I empower low-income, first-generation freshmen students and students with disabilities to achieve and maintain academic excellence and college success through a peer-to-peer mentor relationship. Discipleship Mission Trip Participant
-
Aug 2017 - Aug 2017
2-Week Mission Trip with Young Life Adventures in Baja, Mexico Young Life Adventures in Baja, Mexico is a discipleship service camp with a concentration on serving the people of Mexico. Young Life Adventures Baja participants stayed at Rancho Sordo Mudo, a school for the deaf in the Guadalupe Valley of Mexico. From there, we began our mission trip. Each day we leave the ranch to serve the surrounding communities in different ways. We got to visit the children of a local orphanage, learn about their foundation, and participate in activities and make meals for the children there. In addition, our team assisted with building a new home from the ground-up for a family in need. The other construction project we assisted in was at the Siloé Wellness Center, a nonprofit 501(c)3 Christian organization that provides free medical care and health education in La Misión, Baja California and other communities in Mexico. I am hoping to return one day as a medical professional volunteer. Show less
