I am the luckiest teacher alive! I encourage the gifted to excel in problem solving and critical thinking in the area of mathematics. By teaching in schools throughout the parish, I have had the honor of instilling the joy and exhilaration of math to so many brilliant young men and women. The high school students are very wary of signing up for my classes, but once they do, they see their scores soar, their parents give them new respect and praise, and they have more self-confidence in their ability to learn. I also coach the swim team, and encourage membership for all of Iberia Parish. I have seen how being a part of this athletic team, changes and connects young people in ways that school alone cannot. The swimmers become life-long friends, always helping each other, in college, work, and family. I also am a leader in the parish for the 4-H club. 4-H develops leaders, by connecting 4th graders to mentors, agents, older 4-Her's and highly regarded people of Iberia. I have seen firsthand how it instills confidence and a caring attitude to make our local and state community a better place. Show less

Aggreko gave me many opportunities. I started as an Accounts Payable clerk for the corporate office, then I worked in the parts department and helped to develop the software "Fleetrac" so that it would order for our other parts departments around the country, automatically. As soon as an item left the shelf and more were needed, a purchase order or transfer request from another depot was automatically generated. I also made my boss look good, with the reports I would generate through the Excel program, from reports generated from Fleetrac. It was a great position, but not very challenging, so I went back to school, carrying up to four college classes while working and soon received my degree and became a teacher. Now I have as much challenge as I crave, and I crave challenge and intellectual stimulation. Show less

In Monroe, I was the top salesperson for Louisiana and the Country, in regards to mutual fund and annuity accounts. I would encourage and present the available opportunities for saving to bank personnel; then wait for my customers (the bank personnel) to call me and let me know when they had someone interested in earning higher interest rates. It was a terrific job, and my mathematical skill and critical thinking strategies; along with my competitive spirit; shined. When customers came to me, they were put at ease and educated in the ways of mutual funds and annuities. Most had never heard of any other savings account that go beyond Certificates of Deposit. It was very sad that I had to leave such a rewarding career, but my husband received a job back home, 200 miles south, and I missed my family. My boss told me to stay, and he would have no trouble finding a job in Monroe. They truly wanted to keep me. It was a part of my life that I will never forget. Selling, and being so good at it, made me realize that no matter what, I can support myself and my family. It is truly a numbers game, and you can make adjustments to your game daily so that before long, in any type of sales field you are in, you can be the best and be very productive. Show less
