•Participated in a team of eight designing a non-intrusive system that detects and prevents driver drowsiness while driving. •Studied graduate student thesis with information involving how to use a person’s EKG signal to detect drowsiness also related research from other sources that presented different alternatives to detect drowsiness like face recognition. Presented findings using power point to the team during weekly meetings. •Translated simulation requirements by selecting the Logitech G27 steering wheel at $225.00 with City Car Driving Simulator at $25 minimizing cost compared to established simulators starting at $1200 and assembled the driving simulator also tested the system by experimenting with different driving scenarios. •Studied hardware design with senior student that included filtering out unwanted noise to be able to read a clean EKG signal. The filtering process included a differential amplifier and a combination of filters along with a final amplification. •Witnessed from graduate student the initial stages of writing the program by understanding the algorithm used to detect a driver classified as drowsy to implement a method to wake the driver up.
