Walker is an excellent digital marketing teacher, having led two-hour workshops for my classes at the SMU Cox Graduate Business School in Dallas and via Zoom for DePauw University classes in Indiana. In his latest DePauw January Winter Term workshop, the class ranked his presentation the highest of my five outside speakers. Rather than just presenting case studies of Matchfire’s outstanding digital marketing work for their clients, he first engaged each of the seven student teams about their business or nonprofit marketing consulting client and then shared Matchfire case examples as illustrative best practices. His teaching from the customer perspective and demonstrating outside-in communications was masterful. It resonated with the approach I’d taught in outside-in communications but made it far more memorable, starting with the student teams as the customers. The students took his digital marketing suggestions to heart; it was a real learning experience.

      As an Account Coordinator at The Marketing Arm working on the Hilton Olympic Sponsorship team I was tasked with developing budget tracking documents for all of our open jobs as well as managing our accounting and billing processes to ensure each project was completed within its initial monetary parameters. I worked closely with the USOC (United States Olympic Committee) and the NGBs (National Governing Bodies) to ensure code and policy compliance surrounding all sponsorship campaign activity. My duties also included management of our contracts with Hilton sponsored athletes including Michael Phelps, Alana Nichols (Paralympian and first woman to win a Gold in both the Summer and Winter Games), and the members of Team Hilton HHonors which is comprised of the top athletes on the U.S. Men's Gymnastics team. I worked closely with our talent team to ensure all sponsorship obligations were met while also taking time to ensure our athletes were receiving the appropriate support for their role in promoting the Hilton brand. As a supplement to supporting the athlete sponsorships, I wrote and published web content for our sponsorship site as well as social media platforms.
