Wai Jun studied BSc Computing course at the University of the West of England between 2013-2017. I was his course leader, lecturer and personal tutor. Wai Jun's academic ability is exceptional strong. Most of his marks came to the first place within the cohort, specially for programming and mathematics related modules. In July 2017, Wai Jun will graduate with the first class grade. His overall mark is 85% , which is the highest mark within our cohort. Wai Jun did not only achieve an all-around excellence for his modules, but also contributed lots of his spare time for activities outside of curriculum. He was both student rep and student ambassador. He worked hard for serving his fellow students and helping university's to improve teaching experiences. Wai Jun is certainly a highly motivated and extremely bright individual. You should be very lucky if you have him.

My primary role was to support University events and activities such as Open Days. On open days my main duties were to greet visitors, provide them with information about courses, facilities and services offered by the University, and give department tours to visitors and answer any questions they have. This developed my customer services and communication skills. Also working effectively with other student ambassadors during university and department tours improved my team working skills. Worked within the Base Inventory Warehouse Management Services (BIWMS) project within the UK Ministry of Defence’s Support Chain Information Services programme. My primary role was a software developer where my main responsibilities included fixing bugs and defects, debugging, implementing new features based on design specification, writing and executing out unit tests. Being a software developer improved my technical skills such as Java programming and SQL. I have also gained knowledge and experience in the different technologies used for implementation. My secondary role was a software tester responsible for undertaking validation and verification activities. These included executing system test cases to identify bugs and defects and supporting the developers. Being a software tester increased my knowledge in the business processes and enabled me to think from a tester’s point of view. Working with other software developers and testers have enriched my problem solving skills and team working skills, when devising solutions for identified bugs and defects. Communicating to staff members with different background knowledge has improved my communication skills. Also prioritising different tasks assigned to me has developed my time management skills. I represented the voice of students for second year BSc Computing course. My main role was to work with other student representatives to collect issues and views from students on the course. The issues and views were then raised in meetings with the course leader to discuss possible solutions. The outcomes and solutions were then communicated back to the students to keep them informed on the results. Being a Student Rep enriched my communication skills and increased my confidence in getting to know other students on the course. Also my team working skills have developed as a result of working with other Student Reps. Show less

Assisted members of staff to produce a range of items such as doors and staircases. This improved my teamwork and communication skills when working with different staff focusing on specific tasks. During the manufacturing process many factors were considered such as, choosing the most suitable joints when joining wood together to support the strength of the wood used, making accurate measurements, and choosing the most suitable type of wood for the purpose.
