The Account Manager is a new spin on an old technique. Originally billed as an Onboarding Coach, the goals for the role included making a connection with clients and acquainting them with the company in a friendly, genial way. This allowed them to decelerate after the sales process and breathe a bit within the environment of a session showing them the principles of the software as they applied to their unique business model. In the process of evolving the role, a number of new skills and challenges were added. The Account Manager is now a more active participant in the lifecycle of the store, handling a cross-section of concerns a merchant might have and helping them cultivate relationships with Volusion's various departments. A quality account manager can introduce a merchant to any subject, and coordinate them with experts in that subject, whether design or SEO, or pros at certain disciplines within our Support organization. The Account Managers are also the living barometer for a merchant's happiness with Volusion, proactively involving themselves at tense points during the store's lifespan, setting expectations and managing projects the merchant has undertaken, drawing resources to the task.
