PhenoBiome addresses imbalances in the human gut microbiome that cause unhealthy conditions. The company has developed a bioinformatics platform to analyze patient samples and to identify metabolic dysfunctions at the microbial community level. This analysis enables the health practitioner to recommend specific changes in the patient's diet, i.e. enabling individualized precision nutrition. I am working with PhenoBiome to expand their business to other non-human R&D areas. PhenoBiome addresses imbalances in the human gut microbiome that cause unhealthy conditions. Bringing change into the organization in what I describe as a pattern of creative & collaborative disruption. My activities were mostly project management related in diverse areas such as creating new herbicide tolerant GM corn & soy, leveraging reference genomes & pangenomes, upgrading genomics tools and systems, developing a sustainability culture at the Syngenta site in RTP, and forging connections between early research employees and farmer customers.

      • Jun 2013 - Aug 2018

For five years I managed a team of 20+ scientists working in Molecular Analytics and Genotyping in North Carolina, Iowa, and France. The Molecular Analytics group develops technologies and molecular markers that are implemented in Syngenta's global high-throughput genotyping laboratories. These markers and related technologies are fundamental to the marker-based breeding activities for both GMO and Native Traits across all of Syngenta's 20+ commercial crops.

      • Jul 2010 - May 2013

I managed five projects; four in early development aiming to create new GM corn products using molecular stacks expressing insect control and/or herbicide tolerance GM traits, and one project on strategic infrastructure planning. I worked on a daily basis with colleagues and core team members in the US, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Singapore, Switzerland and France. My projects touched on a wide variety of activities, including lab and greenhouse work, field trials, corn breeding, production & supply, product safety, global regulatory affairs, sales & marketing, and legal affairs.
