The Rugged Gamers venture was born of a match between the talents of a team of long-time content writers and journalists in the field of gaming and tech news, and my skills and desire to create a platform and community where this team could exercise and distribute their work. Working on Rugged Gamers has been a tremendous challenge, and a huge learning opportunity to exercise virtually every skill relevant to the development and business in the online publishing market. My work on Rugged Gamers started from the pre-domain-selection stage, working through evaluating keyword viability, potential profitability, traffic expectations and competition, setting up the CMS, creating content, optimizing for SEO and building backlinks, creating a mailing list, and so on. My workflow on this project included: - Niche research on competition, market size, products and available domains; - Domain registration and management, DNS management, hosting set-up; - Documentation and planning; - Website design and set-up; - Content research and creation, link-building and social distribution, lead-building, list-building; - Testing and Debugging; - Affiliate marketing implementation; - Implementation of relevant marketing features, as well as user experience features; - Process documentation; - etc. Show less

After my work with Gameloft, I worked for myself in a small niche PC parts on-line mail-order business on the side for about half a year. It made good money, took very little time and let me focus on learning and website development. • Game and Level Designer
      • May 2012 - Jun 2014

As a Game and Level Designer I designed the mechanics and the rules of our games. I used CAD and/or photo-editing as well as presentation software to create objective and detailed presentations for the project under development and approved by HQ. I also designed, created and implemented levels, game assets and functions for our games, making use of in-house editing tools and a lot of LUA scripting.I worked with the programming team to ascertain the feasibility of desired features and implement them as desired, and also with the 3D teams to reach consensus as to the best way to implement visual assets that fit with and enhanced our projects, while fitting into the the required device overhead, and working with testing teams to get feedback on balancing, level and asset designs, obvious problems, etc.A core principle guiding the work of a Game Designer is (and has been) to design experiences that go beyond traditional video-game elements in their approach to gamer's interactions. Ensuring a smooth, intuitive, easy-to-understand and satisfying experience from the moment the game is launched and including such things as monetization approach, social elements, multiplayer, menu flow, etc.I have so far worked on three projects as a Game Designer:1. Blitz Brigade – free-to-play team-fortress style shooter for iOS and Android devices. I worked on stages 7, 8, 10 and 11 of the single-player game mode, where I implemented the entire core gameplay, mission layout and objectives for those stages.2. Moden Combat 5: Blackout – a premium shooter in a more classic military setting. I was in charge of designing the multiplayer game experience, including classes, weapons, game modes, maps, balancing and other activities.3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier – Isometric action game. I was responsible for creating and implementing assets and zone modules for the level generation feature, scripting in-game behavior, difficulty balancing, etc. Show less

    • Senior QA Specialist
      • Apr 2011 - May 2012

As a QA Technician I was responsible for the bug-testing of Gameloft titles, working together with the QA teams and Developers, Marketing and Project Managers in order to efficiently and successfully deliver AAA-rank titles for the mobile consumer market. As a fresh QA Technician I answered primarily to the QA Lead, however I have naturally eased into a role of team coordination, due to my attention to detail and capacity to recognize the cause of various flaws and finding the best alternative to class and bypass them, as well as my proactive tendency and sense in overriding people's inertia. I started working closely with the Project Manager on various high-priority projects after the first month (at-launch titles for the waiting to be released PS Vita console), was promoted to Senior QA within 6 months and promoted to the development team by the end of one year.Considerations for testing included the user experience, such as menu flow, interaction, performance, satisfaction, etc.Projects I worked on during this time include:- Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour (QA and update Design) – iOS and Android- Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation (QA) – iOS - Modern Combat Domination (QA) – PlayStation 3 - Ice Age Village (QA) – iOS- The Amazing Spider-man (QA) – iOS - The Dark Knight Rises (QA) – iOS- Asphalt: Injection – PS Vita- Dungeon Hunter: Alliance – PlayStation 3 and PS Vita Show less
