The goal of the organization is to design and construct a next-generation Mars rover over a two-year period, to compete in the International Rover Challenge Series against teams from North America, Europe, and Asia. In September of 2021, I joined the Mobility/Chassis subsystem of the Husky Robotics Team. Each week, I commit 8-12+ hours for three weekly collaborative tasks, as well as independent research and contribution outside of the team meetings. As part of the mobility team, I have collaborated with others to design a vehicle capable of traversing a rough Martain terrain, all while providing a stable chassis that facilitates the functions of the robotic arm and the science/instrumentation system. In the fall quarter, the mobility team focused on onboarding and planning the design and functionalities of the chassis/mobility component of the robot. I have focused on training and working with a Computer-Aided Design system called Solidworks with my team to digitally render and design the possible components of the rover. this component will undergo Finite Element Analysis and later be refined before being sent to the manufacturing team.
