Bio
Brandon Odiwuor
Vlad is a creative engineer who cares deeply about using technology to improve our society. When he is not working the 9-5, he is coming up with ideas for products with the potential to improve our society. His love for developing products pushed him to convince me into working on a startup to build a better medical laboratory management software for sixth months and participate in Y Combinator’s startup school. He is currently tinkering with Bitcoin, Blockchains, Cryptography and payments.
Tito Magero
Vlad is a detail-oriented software engineer with a knack for solving engineering problems and a heart to be a great team player. He enjoys learning about new technologies and is constantly pushing himself beyond his perceived limits by working on many side projects. When he came in at PEG Africa, he built a system that reduced the workload load of the team by automating manual master data creation, which in turn allowed the team to focus their resources on more pressing problems.

1 of 13 developers to have been selected from a pool of 837 candidates to participate in a three months Bitcoin/Lightning developer training program. Built a Rust library for wallet developers that analyzes transactions against chain analysis heuristics and uses PSBT and the wallet's UTXOs to propose a better transaction format. Built a CLI for a Lightning node which allows users to remote access their node and run commands on it. Collaborated with a team of developers as part of the Bolt Fun hackathon to build a payroll that converts a percentage of each BTC payment to USD based on a percentage set by the receiver. Captured my Bitcoin and Lightning learnings on GitBook while going through the Qala Bitcoin/Lightning developer fellowship Show less

Developed sample applications to demonstrate how to integrate OAuth 2.0 latest security specifications using Auth0’s SDK and frameworks like Spring Boot, Vue.js and Express.js. This helped hundreds of developers better understand OAuth 2.0 and get started with Auth0's APIs Researched, wrote and reviewed articles on web development tools and frameworks such as Vue.js, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Reactive, Retrofit (HTTP client) and Java developer tools. These articles were read by more than a 1000 followers of the Auth0's technical blog. Show less

Developing and maintaining a web app with Flask, Postgresql, Vue.js, Jira's API, XML-RPC and Docker to automate the creation of master data management entities in an Odoo ERP database. This tool saves time for our engineers which no longer have to create these entities manually. Customizing and adding new functionalities to Odoo's Open ERP to support our business use cases. Providing customer support on Odoo for our business users. Migrated a Vue.js app, Flask backend API and Postgresql database that was developed and maintained by a third party developer to the company's infrastructure on AWS. For this migration, I configure the Flask API with uWSGI (Python app server) and served the process as a UNIX service. In addition, Nginx was used as a reverse proxy and app server for the Vue.js frontend. Show less

Developed a rapid prototype of a web client application using the Vue.js framework, Vue Router for routing between different views, Vuex for data management and IndexedDB for data storage. Re-designed the database from PostgreSQL to support the variable nature of the app’s data and offline-online data synchronization using CouchBase (NoSQL) database and developed a Node.js backend API with authentication(OAuth 2.0 Password Grant) and authorization with JWT and cookies, and WebSockets to support frontend real time dashboards. Developed a web service for SMS and Email delivery using third party SMS and Email servers on AWS Lambda using the Serverless framework and implemented a separate thread of execution to initiate a CRON job that make requests to these Lambda functions. Improved the load time of HealthStack’s Vue.js app by 10% using lazy loading and code splitting, and also reduced the size of the JavaScript bundle sent to the browser. Deployed instances of the Node.js backend API as Docker images to AWS container service and added a load balancer for load distribution. Show less

Trained a malaria parasite detector based on a pre-trained MobileNet model from Google on Google Cloud Platform using blood smear images from malaria patients. Built a malaria parasite image dataset and collaborated with pathologists to annotate this dataset with MIT’s LabelMe tool. Built a mechanical prototype of a light microscope using local building materials and disposed camera lenses. Designed and printed 3D models for laboratory equipments using SketchUp and an Ultimaker(3d printer). Show less

Collaborated with developers in the community to build a design document for a mobile money payment gateway and designed an Entity Relation diagram for the MySQL database schema. Built a payment gateway service which allowed microfinances accept/make payments through mobile money using Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, Spring REST, MySQL and Retrofit (HTTP client). Built a Spring REST application with Retrofit (HTTP client) to test the mobile money gateway via Beyonic’s mobile money API. Improved the performance of the payment gateway service at scale by adding a AMQP message queue to cache request when they come in. Show less
