Helping clients in AEC industry automate and digitise through incremental process refinement, team upskilling and software integration and/or development. Useful things we have done: - Continuous workflow and data stream for a façade manufacturing facility, closing the loop form estimating department to production line and back - Full automation of steel bridge design using parametric modelling, saving £100Ks in in design fees for similar projects - Detailed designer and modeller for an offshore wind marine jacket installation - Concept designer tool for high-rise buildings with instant cost and carbon estimation - Design of lightweight, fireproof and fully demountable seating tiers for a major stadium Show less

At COWI I worked in close-knit teams with fellow engineers to deliver designs for some of the most fascinating and challenging structures in the UK and worldwide. I spearheaded the firm's digital capabilities, pioneering the use of parametric design using Rhino/Grasshopper, 3D printing and coding (Python, VB). My direct responsibilities varied greatly depending on the project: starting with client meetings to understand the brief and then moving on to concept design and delivery. I developed outstanding technical skills in structural analysis, design and detailing. I have also managed the delivery side of business working with the BIM team to produce high-quality construction information for the clients on time and on budget. Show less

Since joining the company I have been working on a number of technically challenging projects, mainly bridges but also building structures. A large portion of projects involved analysis and design of plated steel structures. I learnt a lot about buckling, non-linear analysis and distortion. Some projects required a high quality aesthetic finish; through careful detailing and collaboration with architects I managed to achieve this while maintaining structural performance.I was also involved in a number of reinforced concrete structures, notably, the detailed design of Mersey Gateway Bridge, one of the largest construction projects in the UK at the time. With 2228m of total length, 318m main span and £1.86 billion estimated lifetime cost it proved to be a very interesting and challenging project to get my hands on. Show less
