Greater New York City Area Investigated how the opioid system contributes to both marijuana's pain relieving effects and its abuse liability in human participants. Results indicated that the combination of oxycodone and marijuana can decrease participants' pain sensitivity (as measured by the Cold Pressor Test) without increasing their high from smoking cannabis.
