I have directly managed or worked as peers with Virginia at Capital One and HSBC since 2008 and would recommend her for any role related to data analysis or data process design. Virginia has a strong understanding of databases, data processing and the design of tests for analytic purposes. While her role traditionally was based on process design and execution, she frequently reached out to her analytic partners to help design their tests in order to ensure the data being gathered would be useful and unbiased for their analysis. This was always a strength for Virginia and became more prominent over the last few years as she completed her graduate coursework in Predictive Analytics at Northwestern. Virginia has also been a strong team lead in our group for years. She was responsible for oversight of our two most complicated portfolios and successfully trained and managed numerous employees in their roles. Her strength in this area was most apparent when several of our analyst positions were outsourced to China. She trained her new hires quickly and successfully without travelling to China, and her employees were our highest performing team members there. Her success in that area was even more notable due to shift constraints which limited our cross-site teams to only 4-8 hours per week of overlap. She helped develop processes for successful daily hand-offs while minimizing wasted time waiting for answers. Virginia has also been key to the implementation of several large projects on our platform. She was a key player for: The design and implementation of new credit policy; A 70% timeline reduction; Improved and automated criteria specs; The initial coding of campaigns for new partners. Working either side-by-side with Virginia or as her manager, I never had to worry that work requested from her would go unfinished or be done incorrectly. For the few times that unexpected downstream impacts were identified, Virginia found them prior to launch. She also quickly explained and quantified them so that the accountable parties could make informed decisions on how to proceed. As her manager, her ability and willingness to identify these problems was very valuable to me. To summarize, I believe Virginia would be a strong addition to teams in a variety of roles and industries. Her strength in understanding and working with data in all stages will provide value to any organization.
