      1. Designed and synthesized small drug-like molecules exploring the delicate balance between chalcogen and halogen bond strengths; and the concept of 'triple activation' in halogen bonding and applying these to the design of molecular solids with structural control and tunable physical properties. 2. Designed and synthesized small molecular polymers capable of forming reversible chalcogen bonds which are used in the design of supramolecular co-polymers with potential self-healing properties. 3. Carried out characterization with the help of techniques which included X-Ray single-crystal and powder structure analysis, FTIR spectroscopy, 1H,13C and 77Se NMR spectroscopy, Differential scanning calorimetery (DSC), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and UV/Vis and Fluorescence spectroscopy. 4. Performed quantum chemical calculations including interaction energies of various molecular dimers and predicting their opto-electronic properties using Spartan and GAMESS. Show less
