I joined this company on January 2018 as a senior back-end Java developer, but have also worked on many front-end projects as well. My day to day operations include: coming up with a design for new features, analyzing, coding, creating tickets after consulting the product owner, reviewing PRs, advising the team on architectural choices, coaching, preparing and arranging knowledge sharing sessions and analyzing/trouble-shooting issues reported by other departments and/or customers. I'm also often asked to join sessions with other departments within the company. I specifically volunteered for a role where I could work with international, off-shore team members, as soon as that opportunity arose. I work and worked, as member of different teams over the years, on Java-powered projects, built using the serverless architecture principle, running on the Google Cloud platform (GCP). Main technologies used are Java, IntelliJ, Git, Gradle, JIRA, BitBucket and Confluence. Virtually all projects are backed by Google's NoSQL databases (Google DataStore and Firebase). We use services and APIs provided by the Google Cloud platform where possible, for things like deploying, automatic scaling, managing log files and controlling costs and system resources. Many of our projects are running in Docker containers and running on Google's Cloud Run. We use Google Cloud's Key Management Service (KMS) to encrypt sensitive data and key management. Also do maintenance and implementing new features to a large AppEngine-based project occasionally. My current main project involves creating automatically scaling I/O pipelines in Apache Beam and Google Dataflow, pipelines where data, that is fetched from various sources, is processed/transformed/merged and exported to different external information systems and/or other cloud-based targets. Using Python, I worked on the full range of CloudSuite software. I've developed a lot of internal interfacing tools for importing data from and/or exporting to our customer's external information systems, using all kinds of (often web-based) technologies. I developed new ERP modules, worked on existing ones, debugged the open-source ERP framework core code or worked on various web services. I've also created various features for CloudSuite's e-commerce webshop application, my favorite project of the company. One highlight is a SAP integration tool, that imports products, sales, relations, addresses, etc. from the customer's SAP ERP system and exported it to the CloudSuite ERP backend using IDOC files. I also implemented real-time retrieving of price and stock data from, and exporting of web-shop sales to, the customer's SAP system in the CloudSuite webshop application. I was regularly asked by my colleagues to write complex SQL queries (PostgreSQL) and trained many of them to write better SQL queries. I was often called in to help trouble-shoot/solve complicated problems and issues of my co-workers. I've guided new programmers, did code-reviews and offered advice on design decisions. Show less
