Colony-stimulating factor-1 receptor (CSF1R) is expressed by immune cells such as macrophages, osteoclasts, and microglia. It is needed for their differentiation, proliferation, and survival. My project at the Rosin Lab aims to characterize the role of CSF1R+ cells in embryonic craniofacial development. My internship at the ICHR focuses on creating a strategic research agenda that describes health topics relevant to the urban Inuit population in northern Canada. Through the process of identifying research priority areas, my project also works toward a second objective: to determine Inuit research methods that promote traditional knowledge generation and knowledge transfer. The goal of this project is to create space for more nuanced discussions about the importance of place and culture to Indigenous methodologies in the public health context. This project is supported by the Feast Centre for Indigenous STBBI Research at McMaster University. Show less
