  This was a promotion from my previous role at Geest Line and entails running all the maritime operations for Geest Line with four mixed cargo/reefer vessels throughout the Windward Islands and Europe. I now have operational oversight for all freight operations, with an emphasis on cargo loading in Portsmouth and France as well as in the Caribbean, always conscious of commercial and P&L implications of any operational decisions to be made.

  This is a key role within a very busy shipping line (8 ports every week) in a senior position. The position entails planning and supervising the operations of 4 reefer vessels throughout the Windward Islands. Which includes; Day to day planning of cargo discharge and loading operations, both containers and break bulk, maintaining a working knowledge of IMDG and IMO regulations. Close liaison, as the Charterer’s Representative and single point of contact for Geest Line within the Caribbean, with clients, agents and port authorities. Responding to conditions (both meteorological and commercial) throughout the Caribbean in order reschedule port calls and thus enable the continued flow of cargo inter island and transatlantic, having a direct influence on P&L and commercial targets and commitments in order to make effective cost efficiencies. Key aspects to date include: • Reinvigorating Geest Line’s operations within the Caribbean. • Significant P&L responsibility by identifying $350,000 of savings via schedule and fuel efficiencies. • Providing a plan to restructure the operations department. • Running a successful Agent’s Conference, May 2014, focussing on making efficiencies/marketing.   Second in Command of the ship (rank Lieutenant Commander), leading and managing her 340 personnel in support of the Commanding Officer. Directly accountable for the delivery of the ship's organisation, safety, co-ordination of training, welfare, discipline, appraisal and development of the ship's company. Responsibilities also encompass the lead on all security matters as well as being the ship's Equal Opportunities Adviser. Initially in Command, pivotal in the regeneration of the ship's company and the ship materially, providing a workplace conducive to team success; instilling an ethos based on pride ands high personal standards. Integral in the delivery of the ship back into the Fleet after an intensive post refit trials package which took a ship manned by a disparate crew and galvanised them into an effective platform, safe to conduct business at sea. Project lead for the ship's Rededication ceremony and Freedom of the City march through York and numerous other occasions including family, diplomatic and business events for groups of up to 250 both home and abroad. Key role in the co-ordination of cross departmental activity in the support of planning and conduct of a 6 month deployment to the Falkland Islands. Planning, organisation and execution of all aspects of diverse events to support keeping the Royal Navy in the public eye. This has included visits to ports, on board lunches, school visits, cocktail parties, family and VIP sea days and large formal occasions, presentations on capability and resilience and defence sales activity.
