Whilst in this role I was involved in the planning, teaching and assessment of first year photography, the planning and teaching of unit 5: professional and personal development to the second year cohort and was also responsible for studio and editing workshops for visiting key stage 4 student visitors. Required to scan, digitally repair and prepare archival film negatives from the late nineteen seventies and early nineteen eighties for printing. Negatives were printed from and exhibited in the Pop recs space for an exhibition; 'No glue, no glass bottles', celebrating thirty five years of the bunker and depicting the early stages of the punk collective the Sunderland musician's collective. Much of my responsibilities as a photography technician at the University of Sunderland involved maintaining photography department so as to be satisfactory for both academic staff and students. This specifically involved ensuring the stockroom was organised, that stock was accounted for and that students used stock with care when borrowing equipment. I was also required to maintain the darkrooms, studios and ‘digital darkroom’ computer spaces, which most importantly involved replenishing darkroom print and film development chemicals. Graduate internship procured through the University of Sunderland involving working with FabLab Sunderland; a digital fabrication workshop aimed at learning, innovation and invention. FabLab Sunderland provide access 3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters, CNC routers and more. Access to this equipment is free to students and at a low cost for industry and everyone else and they are equally focused on learning and providing stimulus for local entrepreneurship. Whilst I was employed at FabLab Sunderland I was involved in a number of events such as STEM recruitment events at Sage Gateshead but was primarily responsible for company photography and videography.
