  Virology technical specialist is responsible for the following:>Supervise daily operation of the instruments, staff working at the virology section >Ensures instruments maintenance are performed regularly>Ensures that stock is well maintained>Ensure that quality controls are regularly done and that all the reagents, calibrators and buffers are QA certified>Ensures that there is no wastage of reagents, calibrators and quality control reagents>Ensures instruments are calibrated by all responsible personnel>Ensure laboratory 1st line serology results are available timeously to meet operational objectives>Ensure that 2nd line serology testing results completed within the prescribed period to meet operational objectives>Responsible for troubleshooting the instruments, work closely with service providers when machines are being serviced to know the basics of machines troubleshooting/servicing.>Be willing to troubleshoot instruments in the absence of the service providers>Have people management skills>To be able work under extreme pressure>To promote and strengthen the relationship between SANBS and its customers>Co-ordination of tasks with colleagues and other departments to meet business objectives>To adhere to safety and health at all cost>To be able to run the department instance were some of the staff are unable to report to duty due to sick leave, maternity, study leave, paternity leave and family responsibility leave.
