  Worked as project leader in a cross functional work environment to develop innovative polymer processing and formulating technologies to make foamed thermoplastic and thermosetting urethane elastomers for semiconductor CMP pad applications via flat-die film extrusion, cast and compression molding processes. Developed and patented a spin casting process technology to chemically bond a soft urethane foam layer as mechanical cushioning to the critical wafer-contacting top pad to improve finished product performances and reduce manufacturing complexity. Effectively led this project in both material and process development aspects from concept screening to building prototypes for internal and customer validations, from a manual process to a highly automated LVM pilot process and to getting ready for HVM transfer. Successfully turned this R&D project into a platform technology of the business division attracting the highest level of customer interests, won CMC Materials gold innovation award in 2020.   Managed a product development team of 2 engineers and 3 technicians on a 2-shift basis in the NAFTA manufacturing site of the Covestro Specialty Film Division. Directed all TPU and PC film product development activities from concept proof to pilot prototyping to production process validation, and to completing new product launch and transfer to the production organization. Managed a portfolio of 25-30 development projects per year via the staged-gate or fast-track processes. Successfully drove the site's 5% or higher organic annual sales growth during my tenure.
