  Purpose of Job To ensure a timeous repair and service of computer equipment and to provide a high level of equipment availability within the organisation. 7. Main Duties and Responsibilities 7.1 Equipment Repairs a) To ensure that all reported hardware faults are attended to and resolved on time and the necessary documentation completed in line with the organisation’s standards. • To inspect, diagnose and trace faults on equipment • To attend to detected faults within set timeframes and meeting deadlines • Repair all diagnosed computer hardware within set standards and procedures • Effectively priorities and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. • To define spares requirements as necessary 7.2 Planning and Execution of Preventive Maintenance a. Plan the preventive maintenance program (schedule). b. Schedule preventive maintenance service to meet the service requirement for each type of equipment c. Execute the planned and unplanned preventive maintenance service. d. Adhere to preventive maintenance service schedule for the organization. e. Effectively communicate with MIS and depots management on time (dates) of preventive maintenance service for necessary spares to carry. f. Visit all company business units and its subsidiaries regularly, to make sure computer equipment is being maintained and kept in good working condition g. Promote good practice in the use of computer systems throughout the organization 7.3 Administrative Tasks a. To manage peripherals, setup of a variety of programs and computer hardware. b. Installing peripherals and other hardware across a range of computers c. Conduct research into hardware products and issues as required. d. Define spares requirements for procurement by purchasing e. Carry out random inspection on all computer hardware equipment in use, review maintenance program, recommend replacements and write offs. f.
