I am a visiting Scientist in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science. I am deputed to the Centre of Excellence for Hypersonics and its sister laboratory, Laboratory for Hypersonic and Shockwave Research (LHSR), to set forth the Research and Development of Hypersonic Cruise Vehicle. I was the first Scientist to be deputed to IISc, and one of my primary tasks was to initiate the R&D activities and build a core team of specialists for Hypersonic research. Some achievements include: 1. Lead research team of 7 scientists/engineers towards the development of critical technologies for hypersonic vehicle development. 2. Designed and tested various advanced aerodynamics configurations for hypersonic air-breathing vehicles. 3. Key contributor to the development of the hypersonic system design and integration. 4. Initiated 13 research projects across 7 research labs (LHSR, Interactive Multiscale Engineering Materials and Systems (iMEMS) lab, Centre of Excellence in High-Speed Aerodynamics, Computational Intelligence Lab, Propulsion and Energy Conversion Labs, Materials Research Centre and Hypersonic Wind Tunnel). 5. Coordinated with engineers and vendors to establish a High-Performance Computing Facility at the company's base of operations. 6. Assisting in supersonic combustion experiments measuring impulse generation at high speeds. 7. Supervised technical staff working on mechanical and electronic equipment manufacturing, integration, and testing. Staff included physicists, engineers, machine shop, and electronic technicians. 8. Wrote proposals, secured funding, prepared and drafted the operational guide for future proposals. Show less

Responsibilities included:1. Envelope expansion analysis and flight trials on a 4.5+ gen air dominance fighter of the Indian Airforce.2. Mission planning module development of a strategic missile system.3. Man-machine interface development and testing on iron bird and on aircraft.4. Development and implementation of weapon employment philosophy.5. Manager for all the aerodynamics activities in the organisation.6. Systems testing for 4.5 gen fighter aircraft and associated mission systems and stores. Show less

    • Scientist (Systems Engineer)
      • Jul 2011 - Dec 2014

My responsibilities included:1. Wind Tunnel TestingI was responsible for the entire spectrum of the aerodynamics studies for the project. I worked with National Aerospace Laboratories to design and fabricate aircraft and store Wind Tunnel models for 1.2 m Tri-sonic Wind Tunnel. This was required to analyze the installation effects and safe separation of the store from the aircraft. Wind tunnel models were designed and manufactured in record time.I also represented my organization in the team of all the stakeholders, including users, foreign partners, and certification agencies, to develop the test plan for the wind tunnel tests.2. Flight Test InstrumentationI was part of the team, which included users and aircraft OEM to design and implement the Flight Test Instrumentation on the aircraft. The work included extensive modeling to find suitable locations to install sensors on the aircraft, aircraft looming, sensor calibration, Data Acquisition system installation, implementation of a telemetry system and programming, and development of software to extract the data for post-flight analysis.3. Estimation of M-curve of a Rocket BoosterI was responsible for the estimation of the M-curve profile of a foreign Rocket Booster through theoretical methods and experimentation.4. computational Fluid DynamicsI was responsible for liaising with the CFD vendor to clean up the aircraft and store geometry, mesh generation, code validation, CFD runs, and post-processing. My responsibilities included defending the veracity of the data to the users, certification agencies, and aircraft OEM. Show less
