It is a two year fellowship.I am working as a full-time teacher to Grade 4 and 5 in a North-DMC school. The fellowship implements the "Teaching as Leadership" model in a movement to end the education inequity in India. ▪ Promoted academic growth by 1.8 yrs in Math and literacy through long-term planning, designing assessment and incorporating the needs of different levels and different styles of learners. ▪ Created various exposure and access avenues for the students through sports activities (Khel Khel Mein), Independence day functions, debates in class, annual cultural events and entrepreneurial projects such as ‘Diwali Mela’ wherein kids sold hand-made earrings, diya and bookmarks to raise money for their Design For Change project. ▪ Worked towards increasing investment in education amongst parents and kids alike through meetings, workshops, community visits and follow-ups resulting in a growth in attendance from 70% to 95% by the end of fellowship. ▪ Undertook projects to address the issues of lacking infrastructure by setting up a school library and activity room in the school premises through community engagement. ▪ Raised funds(~75k in 2 years) using crowdfunding platforms by getting 50+ donors on board to become a part of various projects in the school.
