As an Energy Auditor I work with the Weatherization Assistance Program. Some of my key roles as an energy auditor are finding attainable energy saving opportunities. These include air sealing & insulating the top & bottom of buildings, replacing non-operable heating & cooling systems, hot water heaters, replacing old light fixtures with efficient lighting, adding aerators, & shower heads. HVAC equipment is analyzed to find opportunities to reduce energy usage and increase comfort in an existing home. The methods of improvement are identified and negotiated with the contractor. I keep records & monitor the contracts made with the contractor, and depending on the pre and post retrofit results, I will produce reports required by MD Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) and Maryland Energy Administration (MEA).
