Being keen in gaining work experience, in 2019, I signed up for a part time job as a F&B food server at Hyang to Gol restaurant. Hyang to Gol specializes in serving Korean food, and providing customers a BBQ experience, the branch was located at Raffles City, Singapore. I was required to work five days a week for 6 hours, serving customers and aiding my colleagues in work. My experience: -Greeting customers and seating them -Cleaning up tables when customers depart -Serving food and beverages to customers -Ensure removal of dirty or used items -Refill condiments and stock service stations Resilience was a skill I learned to develop during this experience, and I was able to carry out skills of punctuality and time management consistently during my shift. I volunteered to do charity work offered from my school, for an organization back in 2018, known as the Singapore Children’s Society, located at Bishan, Singapore, where I was assigned with my classmates to entertain and take care of orphans at Sunbeam Place. I was placed into a group of five, where we proceeded to work together to plan out a schedule for the children to part take in. I had the responsibility of purchasing and supplying the necessary items needed for the activities we have planned for the children, as well as managing the budget for buying the items. I had the experience of : -Planning out the kind of games and suitable gifts for the children - Communicating with management staff of Singapore Children’s Society to discuss about activities being planned, and expectations of the event -Taking care and entertaining the orphans at Sunbeam Place - Preparing items for the activities beforehand From this event, I felt that my communication skills has improved immensely, where I have learned how to effectively communicate with my group members, minimising the amount of miscommunication between each member as much as possible. Importance of the capability of an individual being able to work as a team with their peers has been emphasized during this experience. Show less

In 2017, I signed up and contribute to a school program, where students would have the chance to travel overseas and equip themselves with the skills and knowledge to serve the local community there. I was chosen together with a group of students to travel to Brunei to learn more about the local culture over there, before we got to entertain and help out students in need in a local school. I was placed into a group in charge of entertainment, and I was assigned to craft a puzzle game for the students to solve to provide fun in their learning experience. Experience: -Planned and discuss educational activities for children -Researched on the internet for simple educational games -Hand-crafted puzzle games using recyclable materials -Helped out a student in need by volunteering to paint and clean their house -Interacted with the students -Being a volunteer, I also had to partake in a dance performance held for the students for their entertainment Show less
