Initially starting out coding evaluation and management services for Hospital Medicine, I quickly developed outstanding levels of efficiency that provided substantial growth opportunities. I moved from Hospitalists to General Surgery and Transplant Services, eventually dropping General Surgery and replacing it with Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. I found Plastics to be an extraordinarily fascinating specialty and have developed myself as an expert in its coding intricacies.

OB/GYN and Urogynecology claims marked for insurance follow-up were reviewed. Familiarity with various insurance regulations allowed me to develop the best strategies for appeal and receipt of payment on outstanding claims. I analyzed and reviewed remittance advice documents for denial patterns and provided thorough communications with payers. To better assist the needs of the revenue cycle, I also cross-trained in insurance payment posting.

Charge Entry Specialist
-
Aug 2007 - Sep 2010
After being hired directly off my internship, I was responsible for charge entering primary care and OB/GYN superbills into Centricity Practice Management for billing. Once I obtained my CPC, I took on auditing, coding, and entering of OB/GYN inpatient services for several different practices. I also trained our new department lead, as well as handled several reports such as the CCI Report, which consisted of claims hitting the clearinghouse due to bundling issues. During my time at Reading, I worked on two very significant projects. The first was the Signature to Centricity project, in which I collaborated with a consultant and a small team of individuals from revenue cycle to plan a migration of a multitude of specialty practices to a new practice management system. I met with practice managers, staff, physicians, and billers to assess the needs on all aspects of the revenue cycle and develop go-live schedules and processes. The other project I was involved with was the implementation of White Plume, a charge scrubber system. I led several meetings with accounts receivable staff discussing the appropriate edits to be built into the system to streamline and enhance the flow of claims. I built the appropriate edits into the system, trained others on the software, and maintained open communication with our vendor regarding our needs and concerns with the product. Show less
