Youth Volleyball Coach
-
Jun 2019 - Sep 2019
I planned and ran practice sessions for a group of about 20 11-12 year olds and mostly by myself, sometimes alongside an adult coach. I taught conditioning exercises, demonstrated proper technique, ran drills, and led fun games and contests. I also played in scrimmages and coached a mixed-age team during an in-club mock tournament. This experience of working with young kids attempting a difficult sport to learn strengthened my leadership, communication, and patience abilities. At the historical bicultural Church's summer camp program, I organized and prepared six weeks of all-day activities including games, crafts, and bible lessons for 6-8th graders. I balanced responsibilities upfront and behind the scenes- budgeting supplies, food, and field trip costs while building strong connections to the kids.
