Unfortunately, in this period the company made a difficult decision to restructure, resulting in the dismissal of Victor from his duties. This came as a great pain for me personally, as well as the company, parting ways with such a committed, optimistic, and ambitious individual such as Victor. Victor’s responsibilities as the Operations Manager in Örebro and Karlstad included management of our blue-collar workforce, optimising all dimensions of our business and driving profit-margins, and taking full ownership of the local PnLs. Victor demonstrated an aptitude that made him stand out amongst his peers and in the company. There are many moving pieces in operations in a young start-up such as TIER, and we generally expect a learning curve of several months for new employees to ‘get the hang of things’ – however with Victor what became apparent quickly was that this learning curve was minimised. This can be attributed to his discerning mindset, an ability to challenge standards, and what I feel is an often under-valued skill: to not be afraid of asking questions. Additionally, I would like to mention Victor’s eagerness to learn more dimensions of the business, get involved in new projects, and offer to support in all dimensions of Swedish operations, most notably in remote coverage or support in other markets. On a more personal level, everyone that worked with Victor has noted how easy and pleasant it is to work with him. He is bright, kind, and collaborative, even in the face of high pressure and demanding situations. This attitude also permeates into his leadership skills and abilities, and Victor demonstrated from an early point in his career at TIER his capabilities of leading, managing, and motivating a team of operations and lead operations associates, and this has naturally led to the strong and sustained performance in his markets. I should also note that particularly in our business, these employees are working 24/7 and it is often difficult to engage with them sufficiently to drive better performance – however not only has Victor proven his ability to do so, but he has done so across two separate markets.
