Integrated Program in Neuroscience PhD, final cGPA of 4.0, with three-manuscript thesis "The effect of pyramidal neurons in layer 6 on the lamina-specific barrel cortex responses to whisker stimulation", to be submitted in June 2021. Expertise in acute and chronic implant stereotaxic neurosurgery in anesthetized rodents, cats and non-human primates; in vivo brain electrophysiology, general anesthesia and its monitoring systems; functional optical imaging, combined with concurrent optogenetic photostimulation using laser or LED; viral microinjections for optogenetics; immunohistochemistry and classic histology to quantify the neural cytoarchitecture and localize the recording sites with electrical microlesions; brightfield and multi-channel fluorescence microscopy. Managed the facility's new Zeiss AxioScan.Z1 slide scanner. Workplace responsibilities: lab Biosafety officer (levels 1 and 2) and inventory manager, mentor for undergraduate and medical school students, liaison with external companies and McGill departments. Within two weeks, became an expert with two separate versions of the robot, and tested and optimized its stereo camera & laser-guided registration of the surgical area, as well as the robot’s computed virtual space around the patient’s cranium.
