As a planner for the Statewide and Urban Planning Section, I am responsible for assisting Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) and local governments with transportation planning. Tasks include review of projects and programs to ensure all state and federal regulations are followed and review of equipment specifications and purchase orders for Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) program funding. Part of my duties have included reviewing and providing comments on notices of proposed rule making for various proposed rules affecting transportation planning and environmental-related topics. Additionally, I have participated in functional classification and system analysis review projects for various communities. As a member of the Rest Area Committee, I manage local government funding and reimbursement requests as part of an ongoing rest area program and managed a project to update the health index portion of the Montana Rest Area Plan.In my role as the Missoula District planner, I provide technical support to MPO and MDT district staff. Duties include ensuring proposed projects are included in approved transporation plans, as well as providing updates and reviewing Missoula’s Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and ensuring that the MPO’s TIP amendment/modification process is followed. Additionally, I review the MPO’s Unified Planning Work Plan (UPWP) prior to submittal to FHWA for approval and provided review on the MPO’s Public Involvement Plan (PIP). I am also responsible for providing technical support and guidance to local communities within the Missoula District. Duties include contracting for local transportation plans and studies, attending technical advisory committee meetings, providing guidance on setting priorities for urban funding, and providing review and MDT perspective for various local transportation planning projects and studies.

As a project manager, provides expertise and support for highly complex environmental projects. Participates in the development of planning and feasibility studies for corridor projects. Reviews environmental documents for adherence to National Environmental Policy Act guidelines, as well as ensures that applicable federal and state regulations are being followed. Responsible for coordinating the technical review and environmental clearance of project environmental documents for project sponsors. At the project level, responsible for coordinating technical revisions with the project sponsors, tracking agency coordination of the environmental documents, and coordinating environmental documents with the FHWA.
