As Vice President of our labor union local, Victor Morales was one of my closest advisers and I relied on him heavily in running our local. Many of the people who work at the Voice of America and Radio/TV Marti are journalists who came to the United States to escape oppression in their home countries, where labor unions often serve as front organizations for the regime. Yet employees sought out Victor for his help and they joined our union because of him. They knew he tirelessly lobbied Senators and Congressmen on Capitol Hill for us and he was indispensable in our campaigns to preserve several vital language broadcasts. Victor is a highly respected journalist whose integrity and sense of duty are unsurpassed.

Victor was a responsible, reliable and authoritative editor and writer during my time at VOA. He always seemed to have a solution to a problem or an idea that merited consideration. Working with Victor was easy -- a rare and admirable trait for someone in the news business.
