With identified needs including major improvements in stability, scalability, reliability, supportability and visibility, I joined a team charged with building a DevOps team tasked with enabling the development of “Trisus Claim Informatics”, a multifaceted SaaS offering targeted to U.S. healthcare providers, aiding with minimising cost to patients. I engaged with numerous scrum teams working on different areas of the product to establish a robust and purely PaaS architecture based on the offerings of Microsoft Azure’s cloud proposition. I designed the network component of the new architecture to boost security and optimise robustness and capacity. I was actively engaged in improving the security of the proposition by optimising the authentication mechanism of the customer-facing product utilising OIDC flows and a third party provider, Auth0 to enable Customer Federations. I was responsible for designing the DR/BC plan for Trisus. I was engaged with the identification and management of Cloud costs, delivering savings of more than £20k annually. As the DevOps engagement and team was evolving, I championed the transformation from scrum to Kanban methodology providing a 6-strong team with the ability to support a rapidly growing software engineering department. I also engaged in pre-sales, putting together responses for formal RFPs. As the product began its transformation to a platform that would support all Craneware’s offerings, I was tasked with establishing a cloud operations branch of the team utilising the SRE ideology and design an OnCall (out of hours) support scheme.Tools, frameworks, third-party APIs and languages used include: Ubuntu LTS, Windows Server 2016/2019, Python, Bash, Java, Powershell, ansible, Docker, Kafka, ELK stack, Syslog-ng, Prometheus, Grafana, Flink, Swagger / OpenAPI, Microsoft Azure DevOps Server, Microsoft Azure, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, site 24x7, Launch Darkly Show less

I joined a 7-strong scrum team as a DevOps tasked to improve the operations of “Enterprise Ticketing”, a SaaS offering presented as a RESTful API to airlines, cinemas and other customers, delivering mobile passes/tickets on their behalf to hundreds of thousands of their customers daily. I set out on a journey of establishing a DevOps practice and drive the team to enterprise-grade maturity. I worked to migrate the platform to a new Linux-based architecture, Infrastructure and configuration as code. Building on an already mature build pipeline based on GitLab / Jenkins, we delivered continuous delivery and one-click deployment capabilities leveraging tools such as Jenkins, Chef / Kitchen, Groovy and Nexus. The sum of the changes was in technologies and processes resulted in four-nines availability figures and consistent, world-class API response times. Monitoring and Analytics were delivered using tools such as Syslog-ng, Fluentd, OpenTSDB and Grafana for live predictive alerting and event correlation. Rundeck was introduced to standardise operations, allowing the support team to carry out operations that previously required specialist intervention. The new automated test batteries were delivered using Blazemeter Taurus and soon helped identify scaling bottlenecks and increase the platform’s scaling capacity by more than 300%.Tools, frameworks, third-party APIs and languages used include: CentOS/RHEL, Chef, Python, Bash, Java, Tomcat,Taurus, Jmeter, Docker, RabbitMQ, HiveMQ, ELK stack, Syslog-ng, Grafana, Fluentd, OpenTSDB, Hbase, Rundeck, Jenkins, Groovy, Git / GitLab, Swagger / OpenAPI, Vagrant, Packer, AWS EC2 / S3, Kubernetes, JIRA, PagerDuty, Twi-lio, SQL Server Show less
