Kindhelm designs and produces high-precision positioning devices based on centimeter-level accurate RTK-GNSS and state-of-the art inertial sensors. Our in-house software and sensor fusion provide a constant flow of accurate position and orientation data even in challenging conditions where GNSS signal are lost. In my current role I am responsible of review and assessment of different technologies and algorithms, and of their implementation in our INS/GNSS positioning products. I lead and participate in embedded software development, particularly in the domain of sensor fusion. I also develop testing methods for components and the final product, and analyze data from the tests. Show less

I was an R&D engineer in the team that developed and maintained Sulzer's high-speed turbocompressor products and related technologies. In this role I used FEM analysis to perform rotordynamic calculations and to design and to optimize magnetic bearing hardware. I also designed magnetic bearing control algorithms using frequency domain methods. During product development projects, I designed and performed component tests related to the magnetic bearing system, and analyzed the results. I also organized and supervized performance and functional safety testing of the final prototypes. As an ongoing task, I participated in the design and implementation of the compressor control system. This included embedded software development for the in-house designed control unit, as well as implementation and maintenance of remote connectivity solutions. I analyzed operational and fault data from compressors in the field and gave technical support to the factory, as well as to commissioning and service engineers. Additionally, I held responsibility of the Master Control Unit. This Siemens S7-based product was used for controlling a group of compressors particularly in small installations. Show less

      • Oct 2009 - Aug 2011

I started working at the Helsinki University of Technology, one of the Schools that would later form the Aalto University, already during my undergraduate studies. During this time, I worked at the Department of Automation and Systems Technology, having different tasks related to research and teaching. My research interests included control engineering, signal processing, condition monitoring, fault detection and prognosis, as well as teaching methods. I authored or co-authored over 20 academic journal or conference publications. As a project manager, I was responsible for the planning of nearly 10 research projects and applying for external funding for them. Once granted, I coordinated the work of the project groups consisting typically of 2-3 doctoral or master's candidates and was responsible for reporting their academic results and financial balance.
